One Year Old and Thriving: Inside Life on the Preserve With Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi
USA Today checks in on Colossal Biosciences’ dire wolf pack as they hit their first major milestone
A year into their unprecedented lives, Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi are growing fast and showing signs of the apex predators they were always meant to be. The brothers now weigh over 120 pounds each, eat more than five pounds of meat daily, and have recently begun giving chase to animals within their 2,000-acre preserve — catching a rabbit for the first time just weeks before their birthday. “They surprise the team every day,” said Chief Animal Officer Matt James. “From their rapid growth and size to their willingness and excitement to accept Khaleesi into the pack.” Chief Science Officer Beth Shapiro added that the wolves are “thriving — beyond anything we could have imagined. You can see it in their size, strength, and their striking white coats.”
